Wedding Favors

Back in August, I created these gorgeous wedding favors for two of my friends. I was so excited when they asked me if I would make boxes for their favors. Of course I said yes! They already had the plants and pots ordered, all they needed was a cute decorative box to pack them in. I knew right away that I wanted to use the "Bloom Where You're Planted" DSP by Stampin' Up! Since I waited so long to post this, the ribbon I used is no longer available, however, this is really easy to change-up if you would like to recreate this box. I suggest using our new In Color Pale Papaya for the tag cardstock as well as the ribbon. I've included a couple options below in the shopping list.

Design Process:

The first step in designing these cute favors was deciding on the color scheme. Their wedding was pink and blue with floral and plant touches.

Next was to create a box that would fit all the plants. I measured the tallest/widest plants to ensure all would fit. This took me many attempts.

I then created a design for the lid would reinforced sides. This took me a few tries before I created a design that wouldn't be too bendy.

When I design a new treat container, I always use plain printer paper to test out the design. I don't want to waste good cardstock on prototypes.

Then I get to test out with the cardstock. Thankfully, it worked out and I didn't have to make any adjustments.

The lid DSP is the toughest part to score and cut because of all the designs. On some DSPs you can look at the back if it is less busy.

My next and favorite task in creating duplicate projects is prepping all the materials. I love to see all the prepped materials ready to go in stacks. I would say it's more satisfying than the actual project. I really should start timing myself to see how long it takes me to plan, prepare, and create.

I had to include this gorgeous picture! These succulents were just too beautiful to pass up a photograph. The colors were vibrant and there were cute baby succulents starting to pop out on the sides. Love this favor idea! This is definitely something that can be grown and cherished for years to come just like their marriage!
