African Sunset Card

I could not let the Wildly Happy set retire without using it for a live. I had designed with it back in October 2020 for a swap but never posted pictures. I used the design and changed it up a bit because many of the products were not current anymore. I decided to change the sunset shape to a circle which creates a sun looking piece in the background. I also wanted to use the sponges one last time before they retire. I am going to miss them greatly! I love our new blending brushes but I really like the texture the sponges create on the card. You can really see it on the top with the cajun craze over the daffodil delight piece. I hope they bring back the sponges next year. If you are interested in purchasing any of the items before they retire, click the Shop button above.

When I create cards and am unsure of what base color to use, I often layer the pieces on different colors and take pictures of all of them. Then I flip through the pictures on my phone or place them side by side on my computer to see the differences. After viewing these images, I determined cajun craze was just right. The crushed curry was too light, pumpkin pie and real red blended too much, and the black was too dark.

I love how this card looks with the vertical and horizontal pieces! On the original design, I included green leaf pieces behind the sunset piece, but I didn't feel like that looked good with a circular piece. I thought I would pick an opposite shape and use the rectangle pieces behind the sunset piece. I used a basic black piece behind the crumb cake piece to really make the words pop! I also didn't want the crumb cake piece getting lost with the old olive piece since they are similar shades. I decided on using a crumb cake piece on the envelope flap to match the front and insert of the card.
Can we talk about these elephants?! The baby and momma are just soooooo adorable! I love elephants and especially love to see the little ones with their mommas. They often will hold the tail or trunk of their mom, just like a human child. So adorable! I will definitely be keeping this stamp set when it retires. And hopefully someday I can see elephants up close and personal on a safari in Africa. The landscapes and nature are so pure and beautiful, I really want to experience it for myself. I hope you enjoy these precious elephants and are able to celebrate the little ones in your life with this cute card.
