When creating cards for women, I like to think about my interests because I never can find cards that I am really drawn to or really encompass who I am. I know I'm not alone, so I wanted to create a card for all those women that love adventure in the outdoors! I was inspired by the Horizons DSP, it is absolutely breathtaking!
Picture
I took the paper and started layering stamps to see how I could create a beautiful landscape while also using one of the women from the In The Moment Stamp Set. I played with different versions and did not use what I had thought I was going to on my final card.
Picture
I love paper piecing because it makes these images look more realistic and fun! I used two different DSPs for the clothes. I picked designs based on clothes I would wear. Tie-die is huge right now, so I picked a tie-die pattern for the shirt. I paired it with a blue denim color with white stars for pants.

Picture
Picture
I used the masking technique to add a sun behind the trees. I used both Bumblebee and Pumpkin Pie Ink to add variety and make the sun a bit darker since this card is supposed to be during sunset.
Picture
I included a picture of me on one of my adventures. This was taken last fall in Pagosa Springs. This is the most beautiful spots I have been to so far.

Wedding Thank You Cards

Along with the Wedding Favors, I also was able to create matching Thank You cards for friends' wedding. These were so fun to create and I was able to use my favorite layout! I absolutely love designing cards for specific people and/or occasions. It makes it easier to design because I can pull-in specific colors, patterns, and stamps.

When I do bulk orders/projects, I always prep all my materials first and then put them together. I have found if I complete the same task, I am much quicker. I cut all my pieces out, stamped everything that needed stamping, and adhered everything together.

I love to make everything useful, so I decided to add a matching bellyband around the acetate boxes. I told my friends they could gift the acetate boxes filled with treats after they used all the cards. They loved this idea!
Picture
I had already created two projects for this wedding, so I knew I had to go with the same idea for their wedding card from me. It came out absolutely beautiful! I used two plants on the front to represent the two of them growing together.

I am so happy for them and the future they will have. They are amazing people and I am so happy to have met them! To many years of happiness!

Wedding Favors

Back in August, I created these gorgeous wedding favors for two of my friends. I was so excited when they asked me if I would make boxes for their favors. Of course I said yes! They already had the plants and pots ordered, all they needed was a cute decorative box to pack them in. I knew right away that I wanted to use the "Bloom Where You're Planted" DSP by Stampin' Up! Since I waited so long to post this, the ribbon I used is no longer available, however, this is really easy to change-up if you would like to recreate this box. I suggest using our new In Color Pale Papaya for the tag cardstock as well as the ribbon. I've included a couple options below in the shopping list.

Design Process:

Picture
The first step in designing these cute favors was deciding on the color scheme. Their wedding was pink and blue with floral and plant touches.
Picture
Next was to create a box that would fit all the plants. I measured the tallest/widest plants to ensure all would fit. This took me many attempts.
Picture
I then created a design for the lid would reinforced sides. This took me a few tries before I created a design that wouldn't be too bendy.
Picture
When I design a new treat container, I always use plain printer paper to test out the design. I don't want to waste good cardstock on prototypes.
Picture
Then I get to test out with the cardstock. Thankfully, it worked out and I didn't have to make any adjustments.
Picture
The lid DSP is the toughest part to score and cut because of all the designs. On some DSPs you can look at the back if it is less busy.

In Process:

My next and favorite task in creating duplicate projects is prepping all the materials. I love to see all the prepped materials ready to go in stacks. I would say it's more satisfying than the actual project. I really should start timing myself to see how long it takes me to plan, prepare, and create.
Picture
I had to include this gorgeous picture! These succulents were just too beautiful to pass up a photograph. The colors were vibrant and there were cute baby succulents starting to pop out on the sides. Love this favor idea! This is definitely something that can be grown and cherished for years to come just like their marriage!

70s Inspired Card

2/20/2022

Picture
I cannot stop playing with the "For The Record" Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! It has quickly become my favorite set in the January-June 2022 Catalog. I have used it so often that I am almost out of my black embossing powder. I have NEVER used up an entire container of embossing powder, it's crazy! This card has many more layers than my previous record cards and has more of a 70s vibe.
Picture
When I made this card I searched 60s and 70s patterns and materials. As I found inspirational colors, patterns, and materials I started going through my Stampin' Up! stash and made a pile. I didn't use all of the materials I had taken out, but I did use most of them. I really liked how the design turned out and I was able to use some materials I hadn't played with yet. How has this denim ribbon been hiding? It was such a perfect pop of color and contrasted the Cajun Craze so perfectly! I really wanted to add the gold glimmer paper but I could not quite make it work. I'm really happy with the card though!
Here is a stack of all the records I started with. I had a fun time stamping, embossing, and cutting all of these records. I did have to use my snips to cut them vertically because the paper did not fit into the die cut machine with two across. It barely didn't fit and I didn't want to risk messing up with any of these record beauties! I can't wait to see what other projects I can create with this gorgeous set!

Friendship Book Card

2/19/2022

Picture
I love the "Every Chapter" Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! I used to be a huge reader and definitely want to get back into it. I have a stack of books I have recently purchased and still have not read them yet. Sometimes I think I'm more of a book collector than reader. Being an adult makes it difficult to finding the time to read. Does anyone else have that same issue?

I think this card is perfect for your friends that love books! The picture is so detailed and even includes a cute tea cup on the stack of books. Tea and a book sounds like a wonderful idea!

My Design Process:

Picture
When I picked this stamp set, I wanted to figure out a way to spice up the stack to get it to pop out. I decided to use the Hand-Penned DSP. I used the colors as inspiration for coloring and I cut out the flowers to place in the background.
Picture
While coloring I usually keep a bit of white on the side so that I am able to test out the colors. Sometimes the colors are too light or too dark. Testing the colors on the side prevents ruining a stamped image.

Picture
After coloring, I fussy cut the image and started placing the flowers around it. I loved it! It was then time to figure out what paper I was going to place behind it!
Picture
The first color I tried was Pale Papaya. I liked it, but I felt like it was lacking a bit of umph.

Picture
I then tried Shaded Spruce and I thought it looked better. It was a really good contrast to the books and flowers.
Picture
I decided to try to fill in the bottom of the stack of books with flowers too and decided that looked better than leaving the bottom empty.

Picture
I tried Pale Papaya again with the flowers on the bottom and still thought it was too light.
Picture
I got the idea to add a layer of vellum to the Shaded Spruce and didn't like it. The vellum cancelled out the vibrance of the Shaded Spruce Cardstock.

Picture
I didn't want to get rid of the vellum so I tried it on the Pale Papaya, and it was perfect!
Picture
After deciding on the design, I began putting the card together. First layering the vellum on the card base using adhesive in the center.
Picture
I used Tombow Liquid Glue on the flowers so that I could move them as needed while they were still drying.
Picture
Woo hoo! The final card turned out better than expected! Gorgeous!

Materials Needed:

Picture
-Card Base (5-1/2" x 8-1/2")
-Card front (5-1/4" x 4")
-Card insert (5-1/4" x 4")
-Card insert decor (4"x 3/4")
-Stamp, color, and cut book image
-Fussy cut flowers from Hand-Penned DSP
-Envelope Flap (5-3/4"x2-1/4")
-Ribbon (~6")

Staff Valentine's Day Treats

2/12/2022

Picture
I used the cute robot from Stampin' Up!'s "Nuts & Bolts" stamp set to create these cute treats for the staff at my school. The tag is the same as the student treat, but I decided to make the treat bag a tad different. I used shades of silver, pink, red, and purple throughout the treat. I wanted to pick a treat that was metalic to match the robotic theme and of course I needed to include the robot's heart. <3
Picture
When I begin any big project, I like to design it first and once I know what I'm going to do, I prep all the materials needed. It makes it much easier and more efficient to do the same type of task at the same time. I also just love to see all the materials prepped and ready to go on my table. It's so satisfying! It may take a bit of determination to prep all the materials, but it is well worth it when I am putting together all the treats. These stacks are ready for 50 treats!
Picture
Picture
Below you will see all the finished treats! Aren't they just gorgeous? I love the colors and the cute robot holding a piece of candy. Such a cute stamp! I hope you enjoy this fun treat idea!
