Steampunk Themed Card

I have always been fascinated with the Steampunk genre and have always wanted to create using this theme. Most of what I have seen created is costumes, movies, and journal pages. I definitely am not at the point where I can make costumes, although that is a goal of mine. I also am nowhere near being able to produce a movie, and I am not a huge handwritten journaler. I have an online journal where I can add screenshots, photos, and text but I don't decorate it. Believe me, I have tried and it just takes away from the actual journal part for me. As soon as I saw the gears dies from Stampin' Up!, I knew I had to create a Steampunk card! But I had no idea how to go about designing it.
I started out with a simple Google search to find the definition of Steampunk. According to the online dictionary, "Steampunk is a genre of science fiction that has a historical setting and typically features steam-powered machinery rather than advanced technology." I then changed my search to include only images and I saw many of thee elements I used on my card, including gears, browns, golds, black lace, bronze, hydrogen powered balloons, nuts, leather, and antiqued items. I pulled out any Stampin' Up! item that fit the theme and started creating. The elements on the right are the ones I used on this design.

On the inside, I decided to only add the background to the top left corner and the bottom right to leave room for a message to be written. I love how different the inside looks compared to the front of the card. I absolutely love the layers of shapes, colors, and textures in this design. I look forward to creating more Steampunk themed cards!
